Continuing a roller-coaster year that saw Community dropped from the midseason schedule only to return in mid-March to season-high ratings, NBC announced today it’s bringing the cult comedy back for another term.
The Live Feed reports the series has been renewed for a 13-episode fourth season. As expected, 30 Rock received a similarly shortened final season, however, there’s still no official word on fellow Thursday-night comedies Parks and Recreation and The Office.
“Dear Community fans, You are the best people in the world,” star Joel McHale wrote on Twitter. “We’re renewed for 13 eps. Couldn’t have done it without you.”
With the show’s immediate future secure, the big question is whether co-star Chevy Chase, whose feud with creator Dan Harmon erupted into public view — or, rather, hearing — in March, will return next season.
Community joins the previously renewed 30 Rock, Grimm, Law & Order: SVU, Parenthood and Smash.
