Okay, it’s no Heat Vision and Jack, but NBC has bought a show from Tenacious D frontman and comedian Jack Black that points out the problems with self-improvement. Call it The Biggest Loser – No, For Real, This Guy’s A Loser, perhaps.
Black’s production company is behind the TV adaptation of The Guinea Pig Diaries: My Life as an Experiment, a non-fiction book by AJ Jacobs about the troubles his experiments in improving himself and his quality of life cause his family (and, ironically, his quality of life). ‘Til Death‘s Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa will write, suggesting a worryingly traditional sitcom set-up for the show, which NBC has ordered a pilot for, with penalty if it doesn’t get picked up as a series.
