Believe it or not, it’s been a little over eleven years since the final “Star Wars” prequel hit theaters. Since then, star Natalie Portman has been a busy woman – winning an Oscar, getting married, directing her first feature film and becoming a mother, among other endeavors.

With all of that on her plate, it’s not entirely surprising she hasn’t shown her five-year-old son any of Episodes I through III, although it might not be for the reasons you think – we’re looking at you, Jar Jar. Spoilers for those who haven’t gotten around to seeing “Revenge of the Sith” yet…

“It’s kind of a shame,” she admitted during a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “You know, when I made it, I was like, ‘This is going to be the coolest thing. One day when I have kids, I can show them.’…[But] I realized, I die in the movies. I feel like it’s kind of a scary thing to show your kid.”

Fans, of course, know the story of how Padme Amidala died while giving birth to Luke and Leia Skywalker, not to mention the numerous dangerous positions she finds herself in before that, so it makes a fair amount of sense that she may not be ready to show all that to her young son. The real question now is, will she get around to showing him the movies when he’s older? She probably will, though fans would probably understand if she decides to skip forward to just putting on “The Force Awakens,” on DVD and Blu-ray now, or for checking out “Rogue One” once it premieres on December 16.
