After eight seasons, someone has finally figured out how to make Discovery Channel's Mythbusters more awesome: Make it 3D. But that doesn't mean that the show is headed to the big screen.

Discovery is joining with Imax and Sony to create a new 3D television channel aimed at a 2011 debut, and Mythbusters is one of the shows that is being discussed to migrate to that channel. Well, "migrate" is the wrong word; what's under discussion is that future Mythbusters episodes will be shot in both 2D and 3D, with the unnamed new channel airing 3D versions while Discovery continues to screen the old-school 2D show. According to the Hollywood Reporter, other Discovery shows may make a similar jump to the new network in the future. I'm not sure the world is ready for Dirty Jobs 3D just yet, though.
