Mysterious New Image Debuts For Doctor Who Season Premiere

Following the release of the somber banner and the very creepy teaser/prequel clip, BBC and BBC America have debuted a new photo for the sixth-season premiere of Doctor Who. Never mind that the reflection is wrong in the helmet of the astronaut, presumably “The Impossible Astronaut” of the episode’s title — it’s still a cool image.

As a bonus, the networks have also released the image used for the initial banner; you can check it out below.

In the season premiere, the Doctor (Matt Smith) and his companions Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) receive a secret summons that takes them from the Utah desert to the Oval Office in 1969. Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica) guest stars in the episode, which marks the first time the sci-fi series has filmed on location in the United States. Alex Kingston also reprises her role as the enigmatic River Song.

The sixth season of Doctor Who begins Saturday, April 23, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on BBC America.
