Month of Avengers/X-Men Top Fives – Top Five X-Men Who Debuted Outside of the X-Titles

by  in Comic News Comment

All month-long we’ll be featuring top five lists about either the Avengers or the X-Men. Here is an archive of all the past top five lists!

Today we’ll take a look at the top five X-Men who debuted outside of the X-Titles.

Enjoy!

NOTE: I’m not considering Siryn, Layla Miller, Sabretooth or Jamie Madrox as X-Men for this list.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Madison Jeffries debuted in the pages of Alpha Flight before eventually coming over to the X-Men and serving as part of their science squad, the X-Club alongside Doctor Nemesis, who was a Golden Age character who wasn’t even a Marvel character! Roy Thomas brought him to the Marvel Universe in 1993 with an Invaders mini-series. Currently, the good Doctor has turned over a new leaf from his evil days when he fought the Invaders during the War. Now he is the charming and aloof member of Cable and X-Force (and the X-Men’s science team, the X-Club).

5. Karma

Karma debuted in Marvel Team-Up #100, written and drawn by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.

She soon joined the newly formed New Mutants (by the by, technically the New Mutants all debuted in a “non-X-title,” as they debuted in Marvel Graphic Novel, but come on, that totally counts as an X-Title. It’s like saying that God Loves, Man Kills was not an X-title because it was a Marvel Graphic Novel, as well).

4. Longshot

Chris Claremont enjoyed the story of then-X-Men editor Ann Nocenti’s mini-series Longshot (with artists Art Adams and Whilce Portacio) so much that he quickly added Longshot to the X-Men and brought the concept of Mojoworld fully into the X-Titles.

3. Psylocke

After debuting in the eighth issue of her brother Captain Britain’s comic, Psylocke had a crazy career in Marvel UK before “coming to America” and becoming a top member of the X-Men.

2. Rogue

Rogue debuted in Avengers Annual #10, fighting the Avengers and more than holding her own.

1. Wolverine

I forgot the kooky Canadian for a second there. Obviously he’s tops on the list.

That’s the list! Agree? Disagree? Let me know!
