Before he rebooted Godzilla this year for Legendary Pictures, Gareth Edwards made his feature debut in 2010 with Monsters, a kaiju film produced for less than $500,000. That world lives on in the sequel Monsters: Dark Continent, written by Jay Basu (The Dinosaur Project) and directed by Tom Green (Misfits).

The new installment focuses on military units facing off against the creatures in the Middle East, as you can see in the latest trailer from Vertigo Films.

The franchise is set in a world where a returning spacecraft crashed carrying alien life forms, unleashing the creatures onto the planet. Edwards, who both wrote and directed the original film, served as executive producer for the sequel, which premieres Nov. 28 in the United Kingdom. No U.S. release date has been announced.

Ten years on from the events of Monsters, and the ‘Infected Zones’ have now spread worldwide. In the Middle East a new insurgency has begun. At the same time there has also been a proliferation of Monsters in that region. The Army decide to draft in more numbers to help deal with this insurgency.
