Marvel Studios released an official Quantumania trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July which offered the first look at how the iconic supervillain will appear in the MCU, though he only appeared in a blink-and-miss-it moment and had on dialogue. At the time of writing, it is unclear who will voice MODOK in the Ant-Man threequel, though Patton Oswalt did play the character in Hulu's short-lived animated series, M.O.D.O.K. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, MODOK made his first full appearance in Marvel Comics in Tales of Suspense #94 in 1967.

Quantumania will kick off Phase 5 of the MCU when it opens in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023. Director Peyton Reed also revealed in a July interview that the third Ant-Man film will have major repercussions on the MCU and will be essential viewing going forward. "The energy was great," Reed said. "And yeah, kicking off Phase 5 is really exciting for us, because we're the Ant-Man movies. It's our third movie. It's this trilogy now. But things happen in this movie that are going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe permanently. And it's fun for us that Scott Lang is at the center of that change."

Quantumania will see Paul Rudd reprise his Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, but will also introduce Jonathan Majors as the villain, Kang the Conqueror. Majors made his official debut in the MCU in Season 1 of Loki on Disney+ as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang. While he will reprise the role for Quantumania, he will also star as the main antagonist in Avengers: Kang Dynasty in May 2025. Kang Dynasty will act as the penultimate installment to the MCU's Phase 6, whcih will conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2026.

In a recent interview, Majors revealed that he did not officially sign on to play Kang in future MCU projects until he had completed filming his scenes for Loki. "It was the character and dimensions of Kang, and the potential that it had," Majors said. "I thought, I’ll take a chance on that."

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to release in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.
