Marvel's Head of TV Jeph Loeb and executive producer/showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker confirmed Simone Missick as Misty Knight and offered details about other "Luke Cage" characters like Shade and Det. Rafael Scarfe during an interview with Marvel.com.

"We know fans have waited years to see Misty Knight brought to life, so we had to find the right actress," explained Loeb. "Simone blew us away with her performance as the strong-willed cop on a mission."

Created by Tony Isabella and Arvell Jones, Knight lost her arm in the line of duty as a NYPD police officer, preventing a bomb attack in the process. After resigning from the force rather than take a desk job, she received a bionic arc from Tony Stark and went on to start a detective agency alongside her friend Colleen Wing. The two frequently teamed up with Luke Cage and Iron Fist's Heroes for Hire, and Knight and Iron Fist even became romantically involved.

Coker also weighed in on Theo Rossi's character, Shades. "Theo Rossi is a swiss army knife -- no matter what you bring to him, he has a tool for it -- and he's playfully unpredictable.. His Shades will be someone you hate to love."

"Frank Whaley has a wiry intensity that he's imbued in Det. Rafael Scarfe," Coker added. "He's a great counterpart to Misty, and a wonderful actor."

Colter will play series lead Luke Cage in the thirteen-episode show. He will make his debut as the character in "Jessica Jones," another Netflix/Marvel series scheduled to debut later this fall.

Executive produced by Cheo Hodari Coker and produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios, "Luke Cage" is scheduled to premiere on Netflix at an unspecified date in 2016.
