Blue Valentine star Michelle Williams is in line to round out the cast of Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, joining James Franco and Mila Kunis in the Sam Raimi-directed prequel.
Written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Inkheart), the movie stars Franco as a snake-oil salesman who’s carried by hot-air balloon to a magical land run by witches. Kunis will play Theodorah, a young witch who falls for Franco.
Rachel Weisz is in what’s characterized as complicated negotiations — because of her offer to star opposite Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Legacy — to portray Theodorah’s older sister Evanorah, an evil witch who wants to rule the realm and tries to lure her sibling to the dark side.
Heat Vision reports that Williams would play Glinda, the good witch, who teams with Franco to defeat Evanorah.
Williams, who first gained attention on the teen drama Dawson’s Creek, received Academy Award nominations for her roles in Brokeback Mountain and Blue Valentine.
