Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite) and Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2) have been added to the cast of Metal Hurlant Chronicles, a sci-fi television series based on the long-running comics anthology, Variety reports.

They'll join Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner), Joe Flanigan (Stargate Atlantis) and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) in the show's first season.

Produced by French DVD house WE Productions and publisher Les Humanoïdes Associés, Metal Hurlant Chronicles consists of half-hour episodes -- they're directed by Guillaume Lubrano -- adapting one or two stories from the anthology. The pilot’s two segments, “Red Light” and “Cold Hard Facts,” star David Belle (The Prince of Persia) and Jean Yves Berteloot (The Da Vinci Code).

WE Productions already has sold the series in more than 20 international markets, and is negotiating with a U.S. distributor and a French television channel. The first is expected to be delivered in April 2012, with the second to follow in November.

Created in 1974 by comic artists Jean Giraud (Moebius) and Philippe Druillet Jean-Pierre Dionnet and Bernard Farkas, Metal Hurlant was an influential science fiction and horror anthology that attracted such talent as Richard Corben, Enki Bilal, Bernie Wrightson and Milo Manara.
