StudioCanal has debuted a brutal and hauntingly beautiful new trailer for "Macbeth," the dark reimagining of the Shakespearean tragedy starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.

Directed by Justin Kurzel ("Snowtown"), who's reuniting with his two leads for "Assassin's Creed," the drama stars Fassbender as an ambitious 11th-century Scottish lord who seizes the throne with the help of his wife, played by Cotillard.

Opening Oct. 2 in the United Kingdom and Dec. 4 in the United States, “Macbeth” also stars David Thewlis as King Duncan, Sean Harris as Macduff and Paddy Considine as Banquo.
