Merlin alum Bradley James has landed the title role in Damien, Lifetime's follow-up to the 1976 horror classic The Omen, Deadline reports.

Developed by former Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara, the six-episode series follows an adult Damien Thorn, who grew up seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him. Haunted by his past, he must now come to terms with who he is: the Antichrist. The project was announced in May and ordered to series in August.

The first episode, which will premiere next year, marks the television directing debut of Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth, Elizabeth: The Golden Age).Best known for his portrayal of Arthur on the BBC fantasy series Merlin, James currently appears on Showtime's Homeland.
