Director Wes Ball is moving from the post-apocalyptic setting of "The Maze Runner" to the fantasy world of Norse mythology.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has purchased the film rights to "Fall of Gods," a Kickstarter-funded illustrated novel by the Denmark-based studio Mood.

The book follows Vali, a warrior haunted by his past who's nevertheless found peace living far from society with the woman he loves. But when she disappears, Vali must once again confront the creatures of Jotunheim and the powerful Aesir.

Ball, whose "Maze Runner" sequel "The Scorch Trials" arrives Sept. 18, will produce alongside Steve Tzirlin ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars") and Joe Hartwick Jr.
