The DC Extended Universe's upcoming Blue Beetle film has found its villain in Mayans M.C. star Raoul Max Trujillo.

According to TheWrap, Trujillo will play Conrad Carapax/Carapax the Indestructible Man alongside Sharon Stone as Victoria Kord. Additional information was not provided by that outlet about Trujillo's specific version of Carapax.

In addition to a key role in 2006's Apocalypto, Trujillo has had roles in such films as 2011's Cowboys and Aliens as well as 2015's Sicario. He currently plays Che "Taza" Romero on Mayans M.C., which is a spinoff of FX's Sons of Anarchy. Created by Elgin James and Kurt Sutter, Mayans M.C. is set to return on April 19.

Details about Blue Beetle are scare at this time. However, the movie -- which was originally slated to be an HBO Max exclusive -- will star Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle. The movie will also feature George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo and Damián Alcázar as members of Reyes's family. Harvey Guillén, who plays Guillermo de la Cruz in FX's What We Do in the Shadows, has also joined the movie in an undisclosed role.

Created by Len Wein and Paris Cullins, Carapax first appeared in 1986's Blue Beetle #1 and was an enemy of Daniel Garrett, the original person to hold that title. While on Pago Island, Carapax finds a secret laboratory containing an indestructible robot. While he dies from electrocution, Carapax's mind ends up inside the robot. From there on, Carapax serves as an enemy of Ted Kord/Blue Beetle.

Reyes, who was created by Keith Giffen, Hon Rogers and Cully Hamner, is the third person to hold the title of Blue Beetle. He first appeared in 2006's Infinite Crisis #3 and gets his powers -- which include energy manipulation -- through a mystical Scarab. Since his debut, Reyes has appeared in such DC projects as Smallville and Young Justice.

The DCEU began in 2013 with Man of Steel, which focused on Clark Kent/Superman's (Henry Cavill) struggle against General Zod. Since then, there have been solo projects focused on such DC characters as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Billy Batson/Shazam (Zachary Levi). The next DCEU film slated for release is Black Adam. That project, which hits theaters on October 21, stars Dwayne Johnson in the title role.

Directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, Blue Beetle is slated to arrive in theaters on Aug. 18, 2023.
