Matt Damon has finally confirmed he'll return to the Bourne franchise, but only after Ben Affleck seemingly let the cat out of the bag.

E! News caught up with the duo at an event for Project Greenlight, where talk turned to their respective physiques.

"Well, [Damon's] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I've just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So …," Affleck said.

"Yes, next year," Damon clarified. "It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."

Damon's return to the franchise has been talked about since he left in 2010, making way for Jeremy Renner's The Bourne Legacy, but really kicked into gear in September with talk that he and Greengrass would reunite for the project. The new film will be the fifth based on Robert Ludlum's spy.
