Back in August of last year, director McG ("Terminator Salvation") revealed that he fully intended for the film to be his next project, and -- with a release date now firmly locked -- development will likely pick up.

As of right now, not much is known regarding the project. It was previously rumored that "Twilight" actor Kellan Lutz was in talks for the role of He-Man, having teased a meeting with McG via a Twitter post. However, the director later clarified that they had yet to begin the casting process for the film.

The reboot, which lurks in the shadow of the 1987 Dolph Lundgren film, has been in the works at Sony since 2009, with Jon M. Chu in talks to direct as recently as 2012. When that didn’t pan out, the studio began its search anew, with McG boarding the project early last year. The script has passed through the hands of a list of writers, but the latest version is believed to have been written by Alex Litvak and Mike Finch.
