If you thought that after 15 years Masashi Kishimoto was truly done with the world of Naruto, think again.

It was announced over the weekend that Kishimoto will write and draw a Boruto one-shot manga, featuring the son of Naruto, and supervise a new Boruto series written by Ukyō Kodachi (Boruto: Naruto the Movie) and drawn by Naruto assistant Mikio Ikemoto.

Both will debut simultaneously in the spring in Japan in Weekly Shonen Jump and in North America in Viz Media's Weekly Shonen Jump digital anthology. The chapters of the ongoing series will be released monthly.

Introduced in the final chapter of the Naruto manga, published in November 2014, Boruto appeared in both The Last: Naruto the Movie and the spinoff manga miniseries Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring.

Kishimoto had teased in August that his next manga would be sci-fi, saying, “Since Naruto was a bigger hit than I could ever imagine, I’d like to aim for the next hit. I don’t know when I can announce the next manga, but because I plan on challenging myself to surpass Naruto, please wait for it.”
