UPDATE 1/11/17 4:10 PM ET: Marvel has released a (slightly) updated version of the "Secret Empire" teaser, now with the words "Trust the" added to the image, but no further information disclosed -- though all signs still point to it being an event story centered on the Steve Rogers version of Captain America, who last year was revealed to be a secret HYDRA agent due to rewritten comic book history.

Given Marvel's traditional marketing patterns, it's likely more teasers of this nature will pop up online over the next few days. Keep reading CBR for the latest.

The image, which touts the words "Secret Empire" and the year "2017" seems to point to a storyline of some kind that builds on the recent events in Nick Spencer and Jesus Saiz's "Captain America: Steve Rogers" ongoing series.
