SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains potential spoilers for "Battle of the Atom"

With New York Comic Con on the horizon, Marvel Comics has begun its traditional teaser campaign with an image that's informative while still maintaining some mystery.

Presenting the flame-filled word "TRIAL" against a flat, black background, the teaser makes no secret of the fact that it's a promotion for the next arc of "All-New X-Men" by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Stuart Immonen. While the story almost certainly spins out of the events of the current "Battle of the Atom" arc, the teaser is vague enough that there's not much to speculate about -- at first. The presentation of the word "TRIAL" indicates that we're looking at a trial by fire rather than a character being judged by his peers. Add to that the fact that a future version of the supposedly dead Jean Grey is currently appearing in BotA, and this week's "Wolverine and the X-Men" introduces a new character (possibly Quentin Quire) in possession of the Phoenix Force, and we may be heading into the next chapter in the ongoing Phoenix Saga.

Whatever the case, Marvel does promise "All Will Be Revealed" during its Amazing (!) X-Men & the Marvel Universe panel at NYCC on October 11. As always, CBR will be there, covering the news and reveals live.
