When audiences met freedom fighter Cassian Andor and his droid companion K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the pair already had a history. Now, a new Marvel Comics prequel, titled Star Wars: Rogue One — Cassian & K-2SO Special #1, will reveal how the duo first met.

Debuting in August, the 40-page one-shot will be written by Duane Swierczynski and illustrated by Fernando Blanco. Julian Totino Tedesco provides the cover, below, which depicts Cassian and K-2SO standing back to back, with X-wings flying against red-tinted Rebel Alliance emblem rising through the clouds.

The announcement of Star Wars: Rogue One — Cassian & K-2SO Special #1 arrives on the heels of Thursday's news of a five-issue miniseries starring Mace Windu. Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu is written by Matt Owens and illustrated by Denys Cowan, and finds the fan-favorite character (portrayed in the Star Wars prequels by Samuel L. Jackson) in a story that unfolds as the Jedi Order faces perhaps its greatest challenge yet.
