If you're familiar with Spider-Man, you obviously know he was bitten by a radioactive spider. Even so, the Disney XD animated series has managed to add extra layers to the tale. We catch up with Peter immediately after the spider-bite, as he staggers into a restroom to compose himself. After removing his clothes and splashing some cold water on himself to cool down, Peter is shocked when everything he touches sticks to his hands. There's also the little matter of no longer needing glasses to see properly. When Peter attempts to walk off these crazy occurrences, he ends up standing upside down on the bathroom ceiling.

Peter quickly turns to his scientific roots for answers, calling upon the Five Steps of the Scientific Method: Observation, Hypothesis, Prediction, Experimentation and Conclusion. Peter catalogs his newfound spider abilities, including spider-sense and strength.

Marvel’s Spider-Man will debut with a one-hour episode at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, on Disney XD, and will be available on the Disney XD App and VOD that same day.

The voice cast is headlined by Robbie Daymond as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Justice League: Action‘s Max Mittelman as Harry Osborn and The Last of Us‘ Nadji Jeter as Miles Morales. Rounding out the cast are Melanie Minichino as Anya Corazon (Araña and Spider-Girl in Marvel Comics), Fred Tatasciore as Max Modell (a character introduced in 2010 by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos as the head of Horizon Labs, here the head of Horizon High), Laura Bailey as Gwen Stacy, Nancy Linari as Aunt May, Patton Oswalt, Scott Menville as Doctor Octopus, John DiMaggio as The Jackal and Alastair Duncan as Vulture.
