Marvel has released a clip from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings featuring a connection to Black Widow.The clip sees Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Katy (Awkwafina) arriving at an underground fight club in Macau, looking for Shang-Chi's sister Xialing (Meng'er Zhang). The host, Jon Jon (Ronnie Chieng), instead shows the two around, passing various "low level" fights that are being live-streamed across the dark web. They stop to watch one where Helen (Jade Xu), a black widow recently freed from the Red Room, fights someone who looks to have received the Extremis treatment from Iron Man 3. Jon Jon clarifies that due to Shang-Chi's status as a viral star, he'll actually be fighting in the central ring, where Wong and the Abomination are currently dueling.
Prior to acting, Xu was a competitive wushu athlete, winning gold medals at the World Wushu Championships three times on behalf of Italy. Earlier this year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased Xu's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe during a watch party for Black Widow. "One of the Widows, Jade Xu, was born in China, and is a multiple World Wushu Champion," he tweeted from the official Marvel Studios account. "She may even have a brief cameo in a future Marvel movie…"
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is currently playing in theaters.
