First teased a month ago, Marvel has revealed the creative team for September-debuting miniseries "Star Wars: Journey to The Force Awakens -- Shattered Empire": Writer Greg Rucka and artist Marco Checchetto, who collaborated on 2011's "Punisher" series, are set to reunite for the four-issue series, which is set to bridge the gap between Episode VI and the upcoming Episode VII, "The Force Awakens."

"The world has been wondering what happened after the fall of the Empire since the credits first rolled on 'Return of the Jedi' in 1983," series editor Jordan D. White said in Marvel's announcement. "Now, on the dawn of the next chapter of the saga, we're incredibly proud to be involved in revealing the events that happen immediately following the end of 'Return of the Jedi'!"

The Marvel press release makes it clear that the series was developed in partnership with Lucasfilm -- both parties are owned by Disney -- and that it's part of the official "Star Wars" canon.

On Thursday, Marvel announced a new "Lando" series from the creative team of writer Charles Soule and artist Alex Maleev. The latest installment of Star Wars Celebration is currently ongoing in Anaheim, California, with a "'Star Wars' Comes Home to Marvel" panel scheduled for Saturday afternoon, likely to feature discussion of both new projects.
