It's been a long and rocky road, but the Inhumans royal family is finally well on its way to the small screen. After being announced as a feature length MCU film, the "Inhumans" live-action future seemed to be in doubt until it was announced that the planned film had been retooled into an ABC television series. With the entire royal family now cast, it seemed as if the announcements regarding the show might slow down, but "Inhumans" comic scribe Charles Soule has revealed that we should expect to see some more recent additions to the Terrigenesis family.During an appearance on Coast-To-Coast Comic Con, Soule mentioned that characters that he created for the comics would be making appearances in the "Inhumans" TV show. The so-called NuHumans are a later generation of Inhumans who experienced Terrigenesis -- the process that activates Inhuman superpowers -- unwillingly, when a cloud of Terrigen Mist was unleashed on the world. It's unclear whether that specific story will be adapted, but there are many interesting characters introduced in that period of the comics, from the terrifying Lineage to the ever-popular Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has obliquely referenced a few of the NuHumans, and even did a take on Lash, one of the earliest villains in Soule's run on the comic. Based on what Soule said in the interview, it sounds like the show is keen to adapt some of his protagonists, which would most likely include the likes of Inferno, Flint, Naja, Reader and Iso.

The younger characters in "Inhumans" create an interesting contrast to the royal family. While Black Bolt and Medusa engage is dangerous politics, the NuHumans often function as a hated and feared superhero team. Including them on the show should open up the storytelling potential to include traditional superhero adventures alongside the deadly games being played by the royals.

"Inhumans" will first premiere in IMAX theaters on September 1st, and then continue on ABC on September 26th. The series is produced by showrunner Scott Buck and stars Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon as Maximus the Mad, Serinda Swan as Queen Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Mike Moh as Triton and Sonya Balmores as Auran.
