Hawkeye is one of those less unfortunate Marvel heroes whom people sometimes underestimate, especially those who haven't read comic books with him and just know Hawkeye from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Jeremy Renner plays him. True, in a team with a supersoldier and a God, Hawkeye may not seem like much at the first glance, but he can hold his own in a fight, as he proved over and over again in both his solo adventures and in the Avengers comics. If Hawkeye went toe to toe with the DC villains, he'd be able to defeat some of them but would lose against others.

10 Would Defeat: Captain Boomerang

What would happen if boomerangs and arrows went against each other, or, more specifically, Captain Boomerang and Hawkeye would decide to test out who's better? Well, it'd make for an interesting fight, that's for sure - a fight that would be tight at moments but which Hawkeye probably win in the end, albeit not easily. These two men are both fast and prefer fighting from long-distance. However, Captain Boomerang usually has only a few boomerangs on hand, while Hawkeye carries a lot of arrows, some of which have special effects (like exploding). If he can avoid the boomerangs, he can also use his arrows to stop his enemy fairly quickly.

9 Would Lose: Harley Quinn

This might come as a surprise to some but if Harley Quinn and Hawkeye fought, the chance is great that Harley would come out victorious from the fight. Other DC characters, both villains and heroes, tend to underestimate her and view her only as a Joker's sidekick, nothing more, but Harley actually has an impressive set of skills. She's an excellent athlete and a gymnast who could avoid Hawkeye's arrows. She's resilient and proved before that even injuries don't stop her. If that wasn't enough, she also uses firearms to fight and when you put firearms against arrows, the odds are in Harley's favor.

8 Would Defeat: Joker

It might be surprising to find out that Hawkeye would do better against the Joker than against Harley Quinn, but it actually makes sense. Unlike his partner in crime, Joker isn't an athlete. And while he doesn't avoid physical violence when he feels like the situation calls for it, his greatest strength lies not in his physical and fighting skills, but in his mind. Joker is insane and unpredictable, which makes a criminal who's difficult to deal with for rational people, such as Batman. That said, if Hawkeye just temporarily popped into the DC universe, the Joker would have no ammunition against him (like he uses Batman's friends and family against him), and Hawkeye would best him in a physical fight.

7 Would Lose: Deadshot

In another world, Hawkeye and Deadshot could actually be friends, since they both have something in common - their almost uncanny ability to never miss, to always hit their target. That's why their match would be very balanced, at least at first. That said, as hinted above when you have someone who has firearms fight someone who has a bow and arrows, the first fighter has a clear advantage.

Bullets fly faster and further than arrows, and unlike some of his fellow heroes, both from DC and Marvel, Hawkeye's skin isn't bulletproof. Deadshot might not be able to get him immediately but he'd eventually tire Hawkeye out if he kept bombarding him with bullets.

6 Would Defeat: Lex Luthor

The result of a direct fight between Hawkeye and Superman's archnemesis Lex Luthor would greatly depend on the circumstances in which the fight would take place. If Lex Luthor had one of his technological inventions at hand, for example, one of his suits, Hawkeye would be in trouble. But if Hawkeye manages to catch Luthor unprepared, then he should be able to defeat the man relatively quickly. Luthor's greatest asset is his genius, the easiness with which he finds his enemies' weaknesses and uses them against them. But you can't find a weakness of a man from another universe, at least not as easily as Luthor usually does.

5 Would Lose: Killer Croc

This fight would be over pretty much before it properly started. Unless Hawkeye has some superstrong arrows which can knock Killer Croc out, he's down for the count. Killer Croc is one of the strongest members of the Suicide Squad, and also one of the fiercest ones. Both of these factors, as well as the fact that it's very hard to penetrate his skin, making him a dangerous enemy, one Hawkeye wouldn't really have a chance against. He wouldn't be able to use his normal arrows to shoot Killer Croc down, and if these two fought hand in hand, well, then Killer Croc once again wins, since he's inhumanly strong.

4 Would Defeat: Penguin

The Penguin in The Batman

Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin is another iconic Batman villain. Just like many of Batman's greatest enemies, he prefers to use his brain over his body, and he isn't much of a threat in physical combat. That doesn't mean he should be underestimated.

Penguin might not be able to throw a punch as strong as some other villains on this list, but he has his fair share of useful toys at his disposal, and he also has people who work for him while Hawkeye might be flying solo in this scenario. Still, as long as Hawkeye manages to avoid Penguin's bullets and defeat his henchmen, he should be fine and ready to take Penguin down in no time.

3 Would Lose: Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy is one of the more sympathetic DC villains, meaning that she's not evil just to be evil and she has actual motivation for her crimes, even though she certainly could have chosen other ways to achieve her goals. Poison Ivy usually goes against those who present a threat to her beloved nature and plants, which begs the question of why would she and Hawkeye fight in the first place. But let's say that Hawkeye wants to protect another person, someone Poison Ivy wants to stop. He'd have a hard time dealing with her since beautiful redheaded women are his weakness and Poison Ivy can easily stop his arrows by controlling the plants.

2 Would Defeat: Red Hood

Red Hood walks a fine line between heroism and villainy, but there was a time when he was a genuine villain so he deserves a spot on this list nonetheless. Red Hood is strong and fast, as he was trained by Batman who gave him his extensive fighting knowledge, but he's still fairly young and lacks the same experience his former mentor has. Red Hood isn't afraid to take his opponent's life if needed, but he usually kills people he believes deserve it. He might be able to land a punch or two but he's too impulsive and inexperienced to win the fight against Hawkeye who can provoke him until Red Hood starts seeing red (pun intended) and loses his calmness.

1 Would Lose: General Zod

General Zod in Action Comics #981

No matter how hard you might wish for Hawkeye to win in this fight unless he happened to fight general Zod on Krypton, where Zod doesn't have the same powers as he does on Earth, Hawkeye would end up defeated really soon. When under the influence of Earth's yellow sun, general Zod has a basic set of skills very similar to Superman, just like other Kryptonians do. To summarize it - he can fly, is super strong, super-fast, and he can probably shoot laser beams from his eyes as well. Poor Hawkeye doesn't stand a chance unless Batman or anyone else gives him some kryptonite.
