According to the Associated Press, Feld Entertainment Inc., the producers of live shows from Disney on Ice to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, has struck a deal with Marvel Entertainment to produce a live-action arena show starring the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe.

Marvel has received dozens of proposals for live action shows over the years, Marvel CCO Joe Quesada told the AP, but Feld's stood out for a variety of reasons. One in particular is the close collaboration promised between Marvel and Feld in order to ensure fans are as excited and entertained by the show as possible. In fact, director Shanda Sawyer has dug so deep into Marvel mythology for her inspiration, "We had to pull her back," Quesada said. "I told her, 'I think you're even geeking me out.'"

Feld's long-standing relationship with Marvel's parent company Disney also helped turn the partnership into a reality.

As for concerns over the ability to bring superheroics to life, a problem that has famously plagued Broadway's "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," Feld CEO Kenneth Feld says that shouldn't be an issue. "What they tried to do was new for them, but it's the stuff we do all the time in a lot of our businesses." Quesada agreed, saying, "They're already doing feats that are superhuman."

Details about the deal, both from a financial and story perspective, remain under wraps for now, but Feld did share the basic gist of what fans should expect from the show: "The world will be in jeopardy, and the Marvel superheroes will save the world."
