Wolverine has spent years in the superhero game. Before that, he was a soldier and a spy. While he's often seen as a loner, he's been a team player for most of his life, working with spies like Nick Fury and fellow super soldiers like Maverick and Sabretooth, before joining Alpha Flight, the X-Men, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and more.

10 Mystique And Wolverine Have Worked On The Same Side

Mystique is Marvel's greatest shapeshifter. She's used her powers to climb to the top of the black ops world, make a massive fortune as an assassin, and worked with teams like the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, the Freedom Force, and the X-Men. She and Wolverine don't like each other in the present, but they've been forced to work together before.

Since their black ops days during the Cold War to the present, Mystique has worked on the same side as Wolverine and saved his life, even if it was grudgingly. Like many people who hate Wolverine, Mystique wants the pleasure of killing him herself.

9 Gorgon Helped Battle Arakki And Saved Krakoa

Marvel Comics' Gorgon grimacing and ready for battle

Gorgon and Wolverine were bitter enemies. When Krakoa was established, Gorgon was one of the many villains who took the nation's offer of asylum. As a peace offering, Wolverine gave him a beer at the celebration for the X-Men's victory at the Orchis Forge. Gorgon was made into a Captain of Krakoa and helped Cyclops defend Xavier, Magneto, and Apocalypse from assassins at a global conference.

During Krakoa's battle with Arakko and Amenth, Gorgon was one of the chosen Champions. He battled the White Sword and his hundred servants, killing many of his servants but falling to the White Sword. Gorgon made the difference in the contest against Arakko and Amenth, saving the mutants for a time.

8 The Orchis Initiative Helped Defeat The Progenitor

The Orchis Initiative from X-Men #9 gathered together.

The Orchis Initiative combined S.H.I.E.L.D., A.I.M., H.A.M.M.E.R., Hydra, and more. Their job was to brainstorm ideas to smack down the mutants in case they ever gained power, which is what happened with the establishment of Krakoa. Wolverine was part of the first victory against Orchis, and has battled and killed their agents many times.

The Progenitor was a terrible threat to the world, and the heroes needed as much help as possible when the final battle came. Nightcrawler approached Orchis and they agreed to help. Without their assistance, the Progenitor would have destroyed the world.

7 Lady Deathstrike Has Fought On Wolverine's Side Before

Lady Deathstrike Slices Wolverine in Uncanny X-Force

Wolverine has battled many underrated foes, including the deadly Lady Deathstrike. Yuriko Oyama went after Wolverine because her father created the adamantium bonding process, and she felt dishonored by his place in stealing the plans. She underwent cybernetic augmentation, and has spent years trying to kill him.

Over the years, she's softened towards him. They've fought side by side on several occasions, saving each other when they needed to. Neither foresaw ever working together, and they don't like it very much, but they've learned to be allies when the situation demands it.

6 Solem And Wolverine Have Worked Together Almost As Much As They've Fought

Solem. A hooded figure is shrouded in white and blue light, in Marvel Comics

Many of Wolverine's foes are pretty cool, with new Arakki mutant Solem jumping into that number immediately. Born with adamantium skin and superhuman physical abilities, Solem was a bandit in Arakko and was chosen as a Champion in the battle against Krakoa in exchange for clemency. He and Wolverine teamed up to get their Murasama swords, then fought each other in the contest.

Since then, they've teamed up twice more, saving each other when it was necessary. They actually make a pretty good team, but Solem is constantly looking to backstab Wolverine. For his part, Wolverine is always ready for Solem's betrayals.

5 Apocalypse Ended The War Against Amenth

Many Marvel villains have high kill counts, but few have had as many years to kill as Apocalypse has. Apocalypse and Wolverine have battled several times, with Wolverine's X-Force going after him more than once. However, Apocalypse took the offer of amnesty from Krakoa, and joined the Quiet Council, becoming an important member of Krakoan society.

Apocalypse was an important part of the battle between Krakoa and the forces of Arakko and Amenth. In the last battle, Apocalypse was instrumental. In fact, without him, the peace offer that ended the war never would have been made. He saved the X-Men, something no one would have predicted.

4 Magneto's Long Stint With The X-Men Saw Him Come In Clutch

Magneto destroys the Avengers in Marvel Comics.

Marvel has had some great face turns, but few match Magneto. Over the years, Magneto has almost killed Wolverine more than once, most notably when he pulled out Wolverine's adamantium. Wolverine holds grudges, and hates Magneto with a passion. However, the two have been teammates for a very long time now and Magneto has saved Wolverine several times.

The most notable was during the alien coalition's attack on Earth from Empyre. The Cotati invaded Krakoa, beating back the X-Men's attempts to stop them. However, Magneto donned his old pink and purple costume he wore for his villain years and laid waste to the Cotati, saving Krakoa and its inhabitants, including Wolverine.

3 Mister Sinister's DNA Library Facilitated Krakoan Resurrection

A self-satisfied Mister Sinister in Marvel Comics

Mister Sinister has proven to be a bad ally for Krakoa. He was made a member of the Quiet Council, and his DNA library made Krakoan resurrection possible, but it was all part of his plan to take control of the island. However, it's impossible to say that he wasn't instrumental to the survival of many mutants, including Wolverine.

Wolverine never trusted Sinister, but he also believed that Sinister hadn't messed with everyone's DNA because Krakoa's other geneticists didn't find anything. Wolverine made a lot of use of resurrection, even with his healing factor. Without Sinister, he would have been dead many times over.

2 Loki And Wolverine Worked Together After His Resurrection

Loki on his throne in Marvel Comics

Wolverine has his own corner of the Marvel Universe, but he's also found himself up against many non-mutant villains. Loki has fought the X-Men a number of times, so he and Wolverine know each other rather well. Loki's plethora of powers make him a dangerous opponent, but they also make him a great ally to have.

After Wolverine's resurrection, Loki sought him out because the last time he saw Wolverine, he had an Infinity Stone. This was actually Phoenix Wolverine from the future, but the two former enemies did team up to look for the Time Stone, saving each other several times.

1 Sabretooth Saved Wolverine Many Times During Their Team X Days

Sabretooth with an evil smile, wreathed in flames in Marvel Comics.

Among Marvel's greatest rivalries, Wolverine and Sabretooth's hatred is legendary. The two have been in some bloody battles over the years, with each one getting some victories over the other. When they see each other, it's almost always a fight to the death, although they have worked together. In fact, back in the Cold War, they were both members of Team X.

Team X consisted of the two of them and Maverick. They were sent after the Soviets and Soviet allies, and each one saved the other many times. The irony is they still hated each other back then, but they put the missions first and kept the in-fighting to a minimum.
