In their latest Netflix TV news, Marvel Studios has found their Luke Cage.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that actor Mike Colter will soon step up as the Hero For Hire in "AKA Jessica Jones" before moving on to his own solo series on the streaming service.

A relative unknown, Colter has appeared as a guest in TV series like "American Horror Story" and films such as "Men In Black 3" and "Salt." He joins the growing stable of Marvel Studios Netflix leads that includes "Daredevil's" Charlie Cox and "AKA Jessica Jones'" Krysten Ritter. The three will eventually team up with whomever is cast as Iron Fist for Marvel's fifth and final Netflix series "The Defenders."

"Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage," Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg told Marvel.com. "We're excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life."

Colter was first rumored to be in contention for the role of Luke Cage in November, later moving up to rumored front-runner in early December, having done chemistry reads with both Krysten Ritter and Teresa Palmer, with the role of Jessica Jones eventually going to Ritter.

Long sought after by Hollywood leading men, it's no surprise that the part of Cage went to a newer face considering Marvel Studios' long-term plans for their characters. The character first appeared in the comics in 1972. Created by Archie Goodwin and John Romita, Sr., Cage was one of a wave of exploitation film-inspired characters, though in recent years he's become an integral part of the Marvel Universe as a member of the Avengers and husband to Jessica Jones.
