Mark Millar's Hollywood success continues, with his superhero picture book "Kindergarten Heroes" now in development at 20th Century Fox, according to Deadline. Aimed at a family-friendly audience, "Kindergarten Heroes" stands in contrast to past Millar works adapted to film, the R-rated "Wanted," "Kick-Ass" and "Kick-Ass 2."

The potential film will be produced by Simon Kinberg, a producer of this past summer's "Elysium" and next year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The screenplay will be written by Carter Blanchard, whose credits include 2014's "Glimmer" and in-the-works adaptation of "Spy Hunter" video game franchise.

"Kindergarten Heroes" was announced in February 2012 by CBR News, as a "kid-centric hybrid of comic book iconography and picture book pacing" illustrated by Curtis Tiegs, to be published by the United Kingdom's Books Noir. The book has not yet been released.

"This is a live-action movie based on the children's book I put together with Curtis Tiegs a year or two back, planned as a franchise from Fox with the mighty Kinberg on producer duties," Millar wrote on his Millarworld message board. "White-hot screenwriter Carter Blanchard is doing the screenplay, snapped up by Spielberg for his most recent gig, and this is all looking very cool indeed."

Additionally, Millar made it clear that Tiegs, consistent with the writer's approach to creator-owned projects, is a 50/50 partner on "Kindergarten Heroes."

"Curtis, the artist and co-owner of the book, is my 50/50 partner on the movie too," he wrote.
