With a cheeky tweet, Mark Hamill teased that he’ll be returning as Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars: Episode IX." The tweet, which you can see below, saw Hamill bid farewell to his big Jedi beard -- and also tease that it might return. And of course, the tweet also includes video of Hamill shaving.

Haven't seen my chin since May '15, so #FarewellFacialFur & #ByeByeBeard (at least til #EpisodeIX) @popculturequest pic.twitter.com/gaScz1okk6— Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) August 30, 2016

Hamill, who wrapped shooting on the next Star Wars movie in late June, caused a minor stir a few weeks ago when he proclaimed to an audience at a charity event, “I finish Episode VIII, then I’m out of work.” Fans took this to mean that his character was being killed off, but the actor was quick to correct their misconception.

I meant out of work because #Ep8 is wrapping soon, OK? #DontOverThinkEVERYTHING #ParsingHamill #WaitForVIII https://t.co/5CIJ5Gqo99— Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) June 27, 2016

To be fair, Hamill only teased in this new tweet and video that "Episode VIII" isn't the end of his role. As fans of the series already know, Jedi have a habit of appearing in "Star Wars" movies even if they do meet their end.

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" hits theaters December 15, 2017. "Star Wars: Episode IX" follows on May 23, 2019.
