Showtime is developing a comedy series with The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Titled Professionals, it was created by Webb and David J. Rosen, creator of MTV dramedy I Just Want My Pants Back.

In Professionals, viewers will enter into the deadly world of corporate espionage through a pair of disenfranchised mid-level workers who find themselves accidentally thrown into the fray. The cable channel has ordered scripts for the first three episodes of the series. The first episodes will be written by Rosen, with Webb serving as director; both are also attached as executive producers. This is Webb's second project with Showtime, as he is also executive producing and directing a comedy project titled Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Webb's involvement with Sony's Amazing Spider-Man franchise appears to be up in the air at the moment. The director has mentioned he won't direct the previously planned fourth installment of the franchise, and Sony isn't sure what it wants to do with the wall-crawler; the studio floated the idea of sharing the character with Marvel.
