Amy Adams might be busy promoting The Master at the Toronto Independent Film Festival, but we’re more interested in her role as Lois Lane in Man of Steel. Fortunately, we aren’t alone in that. Collider recently had the chance to catch up with Adams at TIFF and asked her about her experience filming the forthcoming Zack Snyder movie.
“It was great. It was really good. Henry [Cavill] – I hope you guys love him as Superman – worked so hard. He is just yummy and really committed to the role. He really did a good job. I haven’t seen the final cut and I have only seen a couple of the teasers. So I am with you guys. I know it because I was there but there was so much that I wasn’t involved in that I can’t wait to see.”
With that being said, Adams’ version of Lois Lane will be a bit different than the ones we’ve seen in the past. Adams said she won’t be as funny as some of the other incarnations, but she will at least be recognizable with the character we know and love.
“She is definitely a pistol still and she definitely gets herself in a lot of trouble still. But she is not as competitive, I would say, with Clark,” Adams said of her character’s job at The Daily Planet.
Back in July, an extended synopsis of Man of Steel was released briefly on the IMAX website that teased the direction this film is headed in:
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?’ Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.
Opening June 13, 2013, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Antje Traue as Faora, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick and Christopher Meloni as Col. Hardy.
