No stranger to DC Comics heroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer reveals he'd like to try his hand at Green Lantern.

"I would love to do Green Lantern," he said when asked by Collider about the depiction of an alien world in Man of Steel versus that in Green Lantern. "I really wanted to showcase Krypton as a truly alien world. That was one of the things I wanted to do from the beginning when I got involved in the project. At his heart, Superman’s always been a science fiction story. I wanted to lean into that, and so did Chris [Nolan], and so did Zack [Snyder], so I was just glad we were able to."

Director Martin Campbell's 2011 Green Lantern cost an estimated $200 million to produce, and grossed less than $220 million worldwide. Although the film was widely panned, Warner Bros. was said as recently as June 2012 to be mulling whether to bring back star Ryan Reynolds for a sequel or relaunch the property.

While nothing appears to have come of that, studio CEO Kevin Tsujihara recently indicated that a new slate of DC Comics films will be announced soon -- which could leave the door open to the possibility of another run at Green Lantern.
