A new behind-the-scenes featurette has been released for director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel that features interviews with cast and crew, and, more notably, new footage from the film's Battle of Smallville.

The video arrives as part of the newly announced "retail theatrical integration" deal between Sears and Warner Bros., which helps to explain why signage for the retail chain is featured so prominently in the featurette. Or maybe those Sears and 7-Eleven signs just help lend authenticity to the setting.

"We wanted to have real places, we didn't want Superman to crash into a fictitious location," says producer Deborah Snyder. "We wanted everything to feel as real as possible."

Opening June 14, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Antje Traue as Faora, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick, Michael Kelly as Steve Lombard and Richard Schiff as Dr. Emil Hamilton.

A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.
