Man of Steel, Ant Man, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn: July 11th Comic Reel

The military appears to have a sizable presence in the film as Spinoff Online reports that actor Henry Lennix has joined the cast as General Swanwick in the film. He joins Christopher Meloni and Michael Shannon in the corps of generals we’ll be seeing … of course, it’s unknown if Lennix and Meloni will be as antagonistic as Shannon’s General Zod.

Directed by Zack Snyder, release date: 2012

I Am Rogue spoke with Joe Cornish about the film. “Yeah, we’re just drafting and drafting,” says the writer/director who is collaborating with “Scott Pilgrim” director Edgar Wright on the script. Ask which of the duo would helm the film, he answered, “I’m just a humble writer on that one.”

Release date: TBA

Various sites are linking to this YouTube video of the full trailer:

Directed by Steven Spielberg, release date: December 23, 2011

According to Carnegie Melon University (via Latino Review), the film will be shooting on campus.
Latino Review quotes an earlier version of the story, which mentions the University’s Software Engineering Institute will play the exterior of a prison and the scene will feature controlled explosions, smoke, and gunfire. Sounds like a prison break, don’t you think? Meanwhile, Superhero Hype reports that a teaser trailer will accompany prints of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2.” They write, “We’re hearing that the teaser trailer is a minute and 33 seconds long and will play in 3D  theaters, 2D theaters and IMAX 3D screens.”

Release date: July 20th, 2012

Collider offers a list of eight things they learned about the film from writer Steve Kloves, which includes the following point about tone: “[It] is more realistic than the previous ‘Spider-Man’ films. He wanted to make sure that the film was grounded in reality, because he said he can’t write cartoony dialogue. They told him reality was what they wanted, they wanted him to write Peter Parker as a real character.” Collider also provides video of their chat with Kloves:

Release date: May 28th, 2012

Fandango has a new poster for the film:

“An age undreamed of,” indeed.

Release date: August 19th, 2011

MEN IN BLACK III has a few new photos from the set, including this shot of an odd vehicle:

Release date: May 25th, 2012

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER asked Base Studios about converting Thor’s hammer and Cap’s shield into 3D. “Thor’s hammer by nature is a more organic and complicated shape,” they explained. “It required specific roto shape construction to aid in the conversion process, however, Captain America’s shield is a simple round shape so conducting work on it was actually ‘easier’ for our artists. (I use the word ‘easy’ lightly, because at the end of the day each portion of the stereosopic conversion process is quite difficult and tedious)”

Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011

Frequent Marvel actor Ray Stevensen has been cast as the villainous Firefly in the film, according to Heat Vision. The character is described as a “saboteur, ninja master and explosives expert.” Naturally. Since every article mentions the film will feature a virtually new cast (except for original star Channing Tatum), who’s going to play Cobra Commander?

Release date: August 10th, 2012

I have a busy week ahead of me and at some point, I have to look at the Comic-Con schedule. As has become my habit, I’ll be taking the train down Wednesday night, but that’s the only thing I know for sure at the moment. I’m sure it’ll all become clear soon. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of traveling.
