This weekend brings one of the high points of the comics year: The Museum of Comics and Cartoon Art Festival 2010. If you're in New York, you can't do any better than this; for $10 for a one-day ticket and $15 for a weekend pass ($12 if you're a member), you get to wander around an entire armory filled with comics talent. We'll be posting some of the highlights over the next few days; I wanted to start with some individual artists, as the opportunity to see new talent is one of the big draws of this show.
Mike Dawson will be debuting issues 1, 2, and 3 of his new graphic-novel-in-progress, Troop 142. He will also be selling and signing copies of Freddie & Me and Ace Face: The Mod with the Metal Arms. He can be found at table E19, alongside Liz Baille.

I will be debuting the second print-mini issue of Gingerbread Houses, a retelling of Hansel & Gretel that poses the question: "How do you live happily ever after with parents who walked you out into the woods and left you there to die?"
I will also have copies of my older mini, Bring Your Daughter to Work Day, which earlier this week received a glowing review in The Comics Journal. Of course, I'll have Issue 1 as well.

Eric Skillman will be debuting EGG: Hard Boiled Stories #2 by Eric, Ming Doyle, Victor Kerlow, and Evan Bryce; Dental Hygiene and Secret Identities, a minicomic by Eric and Rachel Friere; and The Deserter, a minicomic by Eric and Dan Duncan, plus still-available older comics, prints, and more. Dan Pinto and friends will be at table B28 and will be debuting crashhelmetscience, transmission:001, the first collection of the web comic crashhelmetscience. "Drawn by both myself and my brother, Gabe, it's a weekly sci-fi comic fueled by Kurt Vonnegut, Wu-Tang, and Captain Crunch," says Dan. The second is The Fakeheads Anthology, vol. 1, which collects an array of stories from animators and artists living in New York City.
