The international trailer for The Addams Family animated film provides previously unseen footage, including the sinister origins of the family's hulking butler Lurch.
As Gomez and his wife Morticia enjoy a romantic nighttime car ride on a winding mountain road, they accidentally run over an escaped mental patient wearing a straitjacket. Revealed to be Lurch, the fugitive bursts out of his straitjacket to menace the couple, only to be given their luggage to carry, immediately making him one of the creepy, kooky family.
The trailer then shows the children Wednesday and Pugsley attempting to fit into a bright and sunny school, with their signature brand of morbid humor and macabre demeanor.
As Wednesday's science class prepares to dissect dead frogs for a biology lesson, Wednesday instead uses Frankenstein-inspired mad science to resurrect the deceased amphibians into a croaking swarm of the undead, terrifying her teacher.
Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, The Addams Family stars Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Alison Janney, Elsie Fisher and Aimee Garcia. The film opens Oct. 11.
