Luke Mitchell, who played an Inhuman named Lincoln, will return for "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season three as a series regular, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Last season, Mitchell played Lincoln, a member of the secret Inhuman society Afterlife who can generate electricity from his body. He helped Skye (Chloe Bennet) come to terms with her Inhuman abilities and introduced her to her mother, the Inhuman leader Jiaying (Dichen Lachman). In the season finale, he turned on Jiaying to help Skye and the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. save the world from the deadly Terrigen Mists.

"We have a lot of ideas for Luke," shared executive producer Jeffrey Bell in a statement. "He was a nice addition this past season, so he's definitely being considered for all that."

At the very end of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season two, Coulson (Clark Gregg) handed Skye a folder with the label "Caterpillars" on it, clearly referencing Jonathan Hickman and Stefano Caselli's "Secret Warriors," where Nick Fury runs several different sects of sleeper agents, each one called a caterpillar team. Considering the way Skye and Lincoln worked together in the finale, it's possible that Lincoln may very well be Skye's first recruit for her very own caterpillar team.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season three returns to ABC this fall.
