Actor Thomas Q. Jones will be returning to his role as Comanche for Season 2 of Luke Cage. The former NFL running back has turned to acting since retiring from football. He was seen on set with Theo Rossi, who plays the character of Shades, and episode one director Lucy Liu.

Jones's previous outing as Comanche was limited to the flashbacks from Season 1 that documented Luke Cage's time in Seagate Prison. He appeared in the episode "Step in the Arena," where he served alongside Shades as one of Albert Rackham’s enforcers who went up against Carl Lucas.

By the end of the season, Shades was out of prison and working for Mariah Dillard as the two took over the criminal underworld of Harlem in place of her brother Cottonmouth. Comanche, presumably, remained in Seagate.

The comic book version of Comanche first appeared in Luke Cage: Hero for Hire #1, and was created by Archie Goodwin and George Tuska. He was a known associate of Shades dating back to when the two were in prison together, and the two were frequent opponents of Luke Cage and Iron Fist throughout the pair's 1970s Marvel Comics adventures.
