Mike Colter certainly looks like he was born to play Marvel's Luke Cage. This is perfectly demonstrated in a series of new images featuring the actor and his co-stars from the upcoming Marvel/Netflix drama.

Many of the photos center on Luke Cage giving stern looks to a multitude of antagonists: staring down thugs, mean mugging chief villain "Cottonmouth" Stokes (played by Mahershala Ali), giving a piercing glance to a man while working at a kitchen, and pitying a fool who had the gall to punch him.

It's not all about Cage glaring, however. He shows a smile while interacting with Simone Missick's Misty Knight, and appears introspective while standing atop a pile of rubble as well. All in all, Cage is looking like just the right mix of tough, smart and soulful.

As for the rest of the photos, there are a few closeups of Misty Knight and Mariah Dillard (played by Alfre Woodard), and shots of Stokes looking menacing.

Arriving Sept. 30 on Netflix, the series centers on Luke Cage, who, after a sabotaged experiment, if left with super-strength and unbreakable skin. Although he tries to keep a low profile and rebuild his life in Harlem, when crime boss Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes wages war on the neighborhood, Luke steps forward to protect the city while confronting his past.

"Luke Cage" also stars Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley and Rosario Dawson.
