Fox has announced an early Season Three renewal for "Lucifer," the supernatural police procedural based on the DC Comics/Vertigo character of the same name.

The TV series stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, who after becoming bored with his duties as Lord of Hell, relinquishes his throne and opens a piano bar in Los Angeles. There he gets his kicks helping the LAPD find and punish criminals.

Airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the series as performed reliably for Fox, averaging 8 million viewers per episode across all platform, and earning a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic in Nielsen’s live+same day numbers.

Produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Aggressive Mediocrity, the series is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Ildy Modrovich, Joe Henderson and Len Wiseman. In addition to Ellis, "Lucifer" stars Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, and Scarlett Estevez star.

“'Lucifer' is one of those rare shows that starts strong out of the gate, and just keeps getting better and better,” Fox Entertainment President David Madden said in a statement. “Tom, Lauren and the entire cast have really made these characters three-dimensional, and the production team – Jerry, Len, Jonathan, Joe and Ildy – is one of the best in the business.”
