Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy recently commented on Kevin Feige's announced Star Wars film project.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the Lucasfilm boss had plenty to say about the future of Star Wars on the big screen and Disney+ slate of TV shows. But when asked about Feige's upcoming film, Kennedy offered only a vague update, stating, "I would love to see what movie he might come up with... But right now, no, there isn’t anything specifically."

News of Feige's project broke in 2019, when it was announced he approached Lucasfilm about an untitled Star Wars project. Feige, a major fan of the franchise, has included many nods and references to the beloved saga in such Marvel Studios movies as Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming, to name a few.

The Marvel Studios boss previously confirmed his project will be a theatrical release and not a Disney+ streaming show. "That's all Kathy Kennedy," said Feige. "I'm involved in as much as I stay up until midnight L.A. time to watch new episodes of The Mandalorian when they drop."

In early 2021, Feige hired Loki showrunner and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron to pen the mysterious Star Wars project. Waldron himself has said the script remains a work in progress. "We're finally into it in earnest," he explained. "I mean, I'm writing away. It's a lot of fun. I'm enjoying having the freedom on that to do something that's not necessarily a sequel or anything. It maybe has a little bit less of a -- it just doesn't have a bunch of TV shows and movies that you're servicing on top of it, the way I did with Doctor Strange. So it's nice. It feels like a different exercise."

While Feige's project is still far, far away, more Star Wars are coming at light speed. The Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series starring Ewan MacGregor is scheduled to premiere on May 27 on Disney+. The Rogue One spinoff, Andor, will be released this summer on the streamer, followed by The Mandalorian Season 3, Asoka and The Acolyte at later dates. On the big screen, Taika Waititi's untitled Star Wars movie is in the works with Last Night in Soho screenwriter, Krysty Wilson-Cairns, while Patty Jenkins Rogue Squadron remains in development.
