When Japan Rail West announced in July that it was getting into the mecha business with a Neon Genesis Evangelion-themed bullet train, we were given a glimpse of what the exterior would look like. Now, mere weeks before the 500 Type EVA begins service between Osaka to Fukuoka, we're treated to a look inside.

As the newly released concept art reveals, the first car will feature a special exhibition room, as well as an Evangelion cockpit (however, if you want to actually sit in it, you'll have to enter an online lottery; registration opens Oct. 7). The Sanyō Shinkansen line's passenger cars have also received a makeover, with Eva-themed seats, doors and window blinds.

Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno and mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita collaborated on the project, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the anime and the 40th anniversary of the Sanyō Shinkansen line.

The train will run from Nov. 7 of this year to March 2017.
