Season 1 of Loki is full of Easter eggs that point out fan-favorites of the MCU, but two of these hints may actually be coming back around in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Recent rumors of Yellowjacket actor Corey Stoll making his return as the giant-headed M.O.D.O.K. in the third Ant-Man film have been circulating the internet and Loki may be to thank for their validity.

The last time Darren Cross (Yellowjacket) was seen was in the first Ant-Man film after he shrinks down into the Quantum Realm, but given that Scott Lang, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne have escaped the realm, it's possible that Darren might have as well, and will emerge as the new villain M.O.D.O.K. This seems reasonable after a giant Yellowjacket helmet was found in the Void in Loki Episode 5, along with the Quantum Ore Shovel's appearance in Episode 2.

Yellowjacket helmet Loki Episode 5

While it didn't seem significant at the moment, the Quantum Ore Shovel actually has a backstory that connects to Darren's transformation into M.O.D.O.K. The futuristic device was found by Hunter U-92 and other minutemen who were investigating a nexus event that Sylvie Laufeydottir was hiding in. They detected the device to be from the early third millennium, which would be the earliest 21st century, and was manufactured by A.I.M., Advanced Idea Mechanics. Coincidentally, M.O.D.O.K. is a former employee of A.I.M. in the comics and animated series, and while A.I.M. hasn't made an appearance in the MCU since Iron Man 3 when Aldrich Killian was in charge, it may resurface in Quantumania.

In Loki Episode 5, "Journey Into Mystery," the God of Mischief finds himself in the Void, a point located at the end of time where the Time Variance Authority sends items and people that have been pruned. The Void acts as an abyss of Marvel Easter eggs, ranging from the Thanos-copter to a discarded Mjolnir. Seeing the abnormally sized Yellowjacket helmet may have seemed like nothing compared to the dozens of other Easter eggs, but it could be significant after the rumors of Stoll's return to the MCU. By the end of Ant-Man, Cross embraced the role of the Yellowjacket, but did not have the means to grow in size like Scott did in Captain America: Civil War. This means that the Yellowjacket helmet seen in the Void must have been a variant of the Darren Cross known to the current MCU universe, but that doesn't mean Cross in Quantumania necessarily has to be a variant.

Marvel MODOK Hulu Series

In the Marvel comics, M.O.D.O.K. -- or Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing -- was once an ordinary man who undergoes extreme mutagenic experimentation to increase his intelligence far beyond genius level. The experiment works but at the cost of his body being deformed, leaving him with a radically large head and stunted body. An animated series of the character was released in May 2021 on Hulu with Patton Oswalt voicing the character, and it received critical acclaim for its ability to take a small corner of the Marvel universe and create a chaotically fresh project out of it.

The story seems to be laid out if Cross somehow makes it out of the Quantum Realm. His origin story is very similar to M.O.D.O.K. since they both crave control and infinite intelligence, which is what put Cross at odds with Hank Pym in the first place. But since the Void pieced together that Corey Stoll may be returning to Quantumania, what other Easter egg may be foreshadowing a future event in the MCU? Loki has most certainly become a plethora of character and conflict introductions for Phase 4, so it can be hiding much more than what is already known.
