Lionsgate, the studio behind "The Hunger Games," has partnered with Dubai Parks and Resorts to create attractions based on its films for Motiongate Dubai, Variety reports.

The studio announced in 2013 that it's pursing theme park options for its creative properties. This partnership will foster theme park attractions and a retail facility based on "The Hunger Games" in addition to live stage shows inspired by "Step Up: All In" and "Step Up: Revolution," and other films.

Dubai Parks and Resorts has a few other franchise-based projects in the works, including Legoland Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai and Lapita, a Polynesian-themed resort. Likewise, Lionsgate already has a live stage show inspired by "The Hunger Games" scheduled for a November 2016 premiere.

"Our franchises are continuing to drive location-based entertainment opportunities around the world," Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said in a statement. "We're proud to partner with the team at Dubai Parks and Resorts to create a thrilling total entertainment experience designed to attract millions of new fans and continue the global expansion of our brands."

The Lionsgate zone of Motiongate Dubai will open in October 2016.
