While Disney currently has its sights set on the upcoming “Beauty & The Beast” live-action film, there is huge news coming out of the studios upcoming live-action adtapton of “The Lion King."

Jon Favreau -- who directed the first two "Iron Man" films and also helmed last year's live-action “Jungle Book” film -- tweeted on Friday that acclaimed "Atlanta" star Donald Glover would be voicing the role of Simba in “The Lion King" (if the film follows the narrative of the original closely, presumably he's playing the older Simba). The tweet was short and sweet, with a simple message of “I just can’t wait to be king” accompanied by a picture of the actor.

Needless to say, this has been an incredible year for the up and coming actor/rapper. Not only did Glover snag the role of Simba but he was also cast as the young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming “Han Solo” Star Wars anthology film. His television series “Atlanta” debuted last year, taking home two Golden Globe Awards in the process (Best Television Series and Best Actor), and he released his third album, “Awaken, My Love!” to rave reviews under his musician pseudonym Childish Gambino.

But Faverau wasn't done -- he subsequently tweeted that James Earl Jones would reprise his role from the 1994 animated original as Mufasa, Simba's father.

Looking forward to working with this legend. #Mufasa pic.twitter.com/1LszbWrcYT— Jon Favreau (@Jon_Favreau) February 18, 2017

There’s no real information yet on the live-action take on the 1994 classic, but it is reported to include songs from the original animated film. With the surprising success of “The Jungle Book” and the hype surrounding the upcoming “Beauty & The Beast”, perhaps we’ll get more information on casting sooner rather than later.
