Previously known as "Justice League Canada," USA Today has revealed the official title for Jeff Lemire and Mike McKone's upcoming Justice League series: "Justice League United," which debuts in April following the final issue of "Justice League of America." According to the news outlet, "United" will split its time between the Great White North and the cosmic side of the DC Universe.

"It keeps the book fresh when you have those two very different settings or landscapes to go between," Lemire told USA Today. "It's very much a swashbuckling, world-jumping space adventure."

The change in title came about as a result of Lemire and DC editorial's desire to "expand the scope of the series," which will now touch on "every corner of the DC Universe in one team." The roster currently consists of Stargirl, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Animal Man, Supergirl and Adam Strange -- likely with more to come. Lemire also has plans to introduce a new Cree teenage superheroine based in the area where the new Justice League sets up their base of operations.

While the first arc will focus on the post-"Forever Evil" circumstances that cause the team to shift locations to Northern Ontario, the second arc takes the team to Thanagar for a Hawkman-centric story.

"I've gotta say I've put more work into this book than I have for anything I've ever done for DC," Lemire said. "It's been really fulfilling, and hopefully on top of all that it's a big fun action-adventure superhero comic that people will enjoy."

"Justice League United" #1 hits stores in April.
