Studio Ghibli, the creative force behind classic anime films like "Spirited Away," "Princess Mononoke," and "Howl's Moving Castle," seems like it'd be a logical choice for a motion picture adaptation of Nintendo's legendary "Zelda" series. While there are no official plans in the works for such a mashup, intrepid animator Matt Vince provides a glimpse of what it might look like in his superb fan trailer.

There's no dialogue, but some stunning scenes are showing off the many sights of the Kingdom of Hyrule, including Link's home, Hyrule Castle, and the Master Sword atop its pedestal. Near the end, Link can be seen roaming the mountainside atop his horse, Epona. The trailer is all set to an Ocarina Of Time medley, performed by pianist Kyle Landry. Vince explains that he has no plans to develop a full-length movie but made the trailer, and a series of accompanying posters, as a labor of love.

As for the potential of an official release, it seems unlikely, as operations for Studio Ghibli have trailed off since the retirement of Co-Founder Hayao Miyazaki. Fans looking for more Zelda action may well have to wait until Link's next videogame adventure, "Breath Of The Wild," is released in 2017. The open world game, a Wii U and Codename NX exclusive, will see an amnesiac Link rediscovering his past and fighting against Calamity Ganon.
