With Star Wars Celebration now in full swing in Orlando, Florida, fans across the globe are watching intently for any new details about the future of the saga, unfolding across film, television, video games, comic books and prose. Of course, thousands of the franchise faithful are actually at the event, attending panels, buying exclusive merchandise and even camping out overnight in the Orange County Convention Center for this morning's "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" presentation.

The latter were rewarded last night with a surprise visit by "The Last Jedi" writer/director Rian Johnson. Using a megaphone, the enthusiastic filmmaker promised the cheering crowd we would making his way along the entire, winding line. "I'm psyched to meet you guys," he says in the video below. "You guys are hardcore!"

Among the highlights of this weekend's Star Wars Celebration programming are the "Last Jedi" panel, which begins today at 11 a.m., Mark Hamill's tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, today at 5:30 p.m., a sneak peek at "Star Wars Rebels" Season Four at 11 a.m. Saturday, and the Marvel Comics "Star Wars" presentation at 4 p.m. Saturday. Star Wars Celebration continues through Sunday.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, “The Last Jedi,” stars returning actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis. The film arrives Dec. 15.
